I recently had a complete replacement of a large L-shaped flat roof, including multiple skylights, parapet walls and a number of other complexities. Having previously had the roof repaired twice by other companies and still experienced leaks, I decided enough was enough and wanted the whole roof stripped back and replaced by a reputable company. I’m so glad I found Pro Active Flat Roofing.

I was massively impressed with the whole process from beginning to end. Trish was fantastic from the initial booking of the survey, keeping me regularly updated throughout. Steven carried out the initial survey and was incredibly thorough, talking me through everything and patiently answering my many questions. The quote came through quickly and was detailed, which gave me a lot of confidence in the company.

Damian and Steven then worked with me on value engineering to get the project within my budget, without compromising on the quality of the solution. The whole team was also incredibly understanding when I unexpectedly needed to delay the project by a month.

The operations and logistics were equally impressive. Becky and the team kept everything organised, with the scaffolding, skips and roofing team all arriving exactly when they were supposed to. I received regular updates throughout the project, including daily photographs, and any queries I raised were dealt with quickly and effectively.

The team on the ground were brilliant. They were polite, professional, hardworking and clearly took a huge amount of pride in their work. They were real perfectionists and kept me updated throughout, including flagging any potential issues and discussing them with me before proceeding.

The quality of the finished roof is excellent. It looks really smart and, most importantly, we’ve since had some torrential rain and it finally doesn’t leak! After years of dealing with problems, that is a huge relief.

They also went above and beyond by sorting out an issue that was outside the scope of the project while I was away on holiday, which I was incredibly grateful for.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Pro Active Flat Roofing. I’ve come to realise that you really do get what you pay for. Having previously tried to save money on cheaper repairs and ultimately paid twice, I only wish I had found Pro Active sooner.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I engaged Proactive to replace a flat roof for me after being expensively let down mid-job by another 'firm'.  To say that Proactive are highly professional would be to understate the matter - they are simply excellent.  An initial survey, followed by a technical survey led to the production of the time and materials schedule and all associated documentation.  All costs were itemised up-front and a price for the whole job agreed.  I had my own (attractive and intelligent) project manager allocated and she kept things on track and kept me informed.  Everything was properly co-ordinated, including materials delivery, skips and scaffolding - thanks, Becky.  The guys who did the work, Jake and Rocco, were first-rate and fun to have around as well as working like beavers on some of the hottest days of the year.

Once the job was done it was re-inspected by the relevant managers for any snagging issues before being signed off.  The guarantee is first-rate, and I have a client folder with dozens of photos showing the work progression at the end of each day.

I contacted Proactive Flat Roofing

After a very thorough survey of my roof by Mr Stephen Day, it was decided that the only option I had was to get the roof redone.

After getting another report from an independent surveyor who also condemned the roof as not fit for purpose.

I accepted the very concise written quote from Proactive Flat Roofing.I also received a very good guide booklet explaining  in detail  their product and their guidance to getting your roof done.

From the first site visit by Mr Stephen Day and then to the great communicational and organisational skills of the support team

I genuinely believe that I could not have contracted a more dedicated to customer satisfaction driven team of people.

If you are getting your flat roof done, do not go down the route I did by NOT checking the roofing businesses certification and accreditation certificates.

They were extremely professional, co-operative and adaptable (we had a few obstacles to overcome due to difficult tenants) and their workmanship was excellent. We recently engaged Proactive to complete a major replacement of our flat roof, following the receipt of a local authority grant.  From start to finish everyone we worked with were exceptional.  We cannot speak highly enough of the service we received.  The work was completed on time and to budget and communications from them were excellent, including daily photos of work that had been completed.
Engaging roofers is a little worrying because there are so many cowboys out there.  We talked to several of Proactive's customers and their feedback and comments gave us the confidence that we needed to engage them. PRS reacted very professionally to my review and have now made all the necessary changes to the roof to make it sound and address the leak issue.

I am happy to say that what started with a poor experience has turned into a good experience and thank PRS for addressing the issues professionally.

Although the quoting and pre-installation stage went very professionally, the implementation has not been a success. Anyone's definition of a successful roofing project must be that the new roof does not leak?
Well our installation has leaked BEFORE it was completed and is still leaking every day. We are waiting for PRS to finish the installation successfully and then we can pay the final contract price for the work quoted.
Obviously from time to time issues always come up but it is how the company manages these issues that is important.
Come on PRS, come back and fix the roof and stop the leak.

Just wish there were 6 stars! They answered my query immediately and arranged a routine 5 yearly inspection of the flat roofs on my property within a week. I was concerned about my shared drain of the edge of the flat roof with my neighbour, the workmen did an exemplar job to improve the drain both in performance and appearance - good for neighbour relations! We have an old house with a very odd mix of gables, pitched and flat roofs and peculiar drainage. Several people have tried to stop it leaking in the past without success, but as the flat part needed to be replaced, we asked PFR to look at it all. They did thorough assessment and produced a good plan.
It wasn't cheap, but converting the flat part into a "warm" roof has made a lot of difference and they have been clever with the solution to the odd drainage.
It all looks very good, and all interactions with the company were excellent. The two roofers, Alex and Jake worked very hard, despite temperatures of minus six. They were tidy and left an excellent finish.

Recently I built five, four-bedroom homes in Surrey. While I’m experienced with refurbishing and extending properties, this was my first new build project, and the first time I had to meet standards set by the company that issues the building warranty. When I reached out for help with the flat roofs, I was looking for someone who understood what I was up against, and who could inspire confidence. Stephen was the first person to get back to me showing the right kind interest.

I’d spoken to others; I just wasn’t getting what I needed in terms of advice. So I was happy when I found someone on the phone that seemed friendly, straight talking and well informed. I liked him right away. I had a thousand and one questions for Stephen, and I particularly want to thank him for his patience. The building was nearly at roof level when I called him in. I needed lots of answers, and I needed them fast. When I described my issues to him on the phone, he instantly knew what I was talking about. And if there was ever a time that he didn’t know straight away he’d find out and get back to me. So his responsiveness impressed me.

Just to give you an example, I had my carpenters laying the wooden roof deck ready to hand over, when questions came up about the ventilation system. I was under pressure to get the roof on, and while it’s easy reading the book about the standard required for the warranty, it’s not one hundred percent clear. In this kind of situation you know he’s got the answers. “Don’t do it like that, this is how it needs to be done. Put this in, don’t do that. Simple.”

Stephen is extremely professional, very helpful. He’s well informed of his facts and he knows what he’s talking about. To put it in its simplest terms, he knows his stuff.

I own a building company in the Cotswolds, established in 1881. We do the typical work of general builders, including house extensions and refurbishments.
