Barry Dunlop

Senior Flat Roof Surveyor

Having come from a home-improvements background, Barry is a senior member of our surveyor team. With an incredible amount of experience under his belt, and having surveyed hundreds of roofs in over 5 years with us on the flat roofing scene, Barry always looks after our customers with empathy and spirit.

It’s Barry’s job to visit customers’ homes, carry out initial surveys on roofs, provide condition reports, specification, pricing and design bespoke solutions to meet your needs.

Earl

Flat Roof Surveyor

A licensed Civil Engineer, Earl has over 7 years of experience in construction and cost estimating, specializing in project planning, quantity take-offs, and construction management. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management. 
Earl previously worked on bespoke countertops for high-end commercial projects, hotels, and establishments across London and the UK. He also possesses a strong background in both field operations and academic instruction, currently serving as a faculty member in the Civil Engineering Department, where he mentors and educates future engineers.

The Technician Team

The Proactive installation team has a minimum of 5 teams of installers working across the UK at any one time – and it’s growing as we speak. 

Hand-picked for their specialist skills and years in the field, our installers are experienced, friendly and professional, often trained from apprentice to Senior Technician level in-house and on the job. Every single installer in the Proactive team will treat you and your home with respect and complete your roof to the highest standards.

Camaron Morgan

Roofing Technician

Camaron has worked for PFR since 2021, joining the company straight from college as an apprentice. Since then, he has developed into a skilled and reliable roofing technician with a strong understanding of single ply systems and a growing capability across a wide range of site-based works.

He is enthusiastic, driven, and consistently shows a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility. Camaron takes genuine pride in the quality of his work and is known for his positive attitude on site and his ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients.

Alongside his own development, Camaron now plays an active role in supporting and mentoring Harry, helping to pass on practical knowledge and promote good working practices on site. This demonstrates his progression within the team and his growing leadership potential.

Camaron has clear ambitions to progress into a Senior Roof Technician role in the future, and continues to build the skills, experience, and confidence required to achieve this.

Dave Lewis

Senior Technician

Dave brings over 35 years of roofing experience to the team, having worked in the industry since 1990. With a wealth of hands-on knowledge across domestic roofing projects, he plays a key role in our operations department, supporting both our technicians and customers with his technical expertise.

As Senior Technician, Dave works closely with our roofing teams to maintain the highest standards of quality across every project. He also carries out domestic technical surveys, mentors our apprentice roofers, and provides ongoing operational support to ensure jobs run smoothly and efficiently.

Outside of work, Dave is a huge football fan and enjoys all kinds of sport, bringing the same passion and team spirit into the workplace every day.

Harry Weaks

Apprentice Roofer

Harry is a valued member of our team and currently developing his skills as an apprentice roofer. With an excellent attitude, strong work ethic, and a real eagerness to learn, he has already made a great impression both within the team and on site.

Reliable, hardworking, and always willing to get stuck in, Harry works closely alongside our experienced technicians to build his knowledge across all aspects of roofing. His commitment to learning the trade and maintaining high standards makes him a fantastic asset to the company and an exciting talent for the future.

Outside of work, Harry enjoys staying active and brings plenty of energy and positivity to the team every day.

Yvonne heads up our Support Team, ensuring all our back office systems and processes are kept up to date. We couldn’t manage without her!

Key Support Member

Alleighny joined Proactive Flat Roofing in 2021 as a key support member, assisting across all areas of the business. Her background as a graphic designer in the Philippines brings creativity, organisation, and attention to detail to her role. Since relocating to England, Alleighny has become an important part of the PFR team and enjoys spending time with her young daughter outside of work.

Damian Hiney

Technical Manager

Damian brings more than 22 years of roofing experience to our team, with a career built on quality workmanship, technical expertise, and leadership. As our Technical Manager, Damian ensures every installation is completed to the highest standards of safety, performance, and craftsmanship.

Having worked extensively in Canada on large-scale roofing projects, Damian has gained invaluable international experience across a wide range of systems and complex installations. In 2021, Damian installed a major roofing project in Camberley that went on to win the prestigious NFRC Roof of the Year Awards — one of the roofing industry’s highest honours.

Damian is a key member of our operations department, where he supports our technicians with technical challenges and provides expert guidance across all aspects of roofing works. Known for his attention to detail and practical problem-solving, he plays an important role in maintaining the high standards our clients expect. Outside of work, Damian enjoys spending time on the golf course whenever he gets the chance.

Charlotte Purdie

Administrator Assistant

Charlotte is the Operations Administrative Assistant at Vanguard and plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day coordination of projects and customer communication.

Working closely with both the operations team and site technicians, Charlotte helps ensure projects are organised efficiently and clients are kept updated throughout every stage of the works.

Known for her positive attitude and approachable nature, Charlotte is organised and always willing to support both colleagues and customers wherever needed. She enjoys building strong relationships with clients and takes pride in helping projects run smoothly behind the scenes.

Outside of work, Charlotte loves travelling, enjoying the sunshine, and is currently learning Spanish, something she is very passionate about and enjoys developing in her spare time.

Becky Poole

Operations Manager

Becky is the Operations Manager at Vanguard and is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring operational efficiency, clear client communication, and an excellent customer experience throughout.

With a background as a former Teacher and Head of Department in English and Drama, Becky brings exceptional leadership, organisation, and communication skills to the business. Her experience managing teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments has enabled her to develop a proactive and solutions-focused approach, ensuring projects run smoothly while maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and site teams alike.

Becky plays a key role in coordinating operations, managing schedules and resources, and supporting both technicians and clients to ensure every project is delivered safely, professionally, and with attention to detail.

Client Support Manager

Tricia Hunter joined as Client Support Manager in November 2024, bringing a proactive and client-focused approach.

She has extensive experience in Business Development and Customer Service Management, giving her a deep understanding of client needs and effective solutions. Her consultative style, built on integrity and a passion for adding value, ensures she delivers exceptional support and builds strong client relationships.

Carla Mann

Finance Manager

Carla is our numbers person, handling everything finance. She is the main contact for all finance enquiries, as well as invoicing and general queries. 

Carla has worked in finance for nearly 15 years, previously working as a Finance Manager for Worcester County Council and accounts manager in various small businesses before joining the team.

Stephen Day

Managing Director

Stephen is the Co-Founder and a driving force behind Proactive Flat Roofing. He oversees all the business activities. His primary role is to get the right people in place and give them the right resources and support. He also drives new projects, cultivating a driven, proactive, honest company culture and setting and maintaining quality standards. His focus is on building a leadership team to ensure Proactive leads the industry and stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Stephen has been in a senior Director role of various companies since 1999 and has over a decade of flat roofing experience, giving him the expertise and knowledge required to make Proactive a success.

Paull Newsome

Commercial Director

Proactive Co-Founder, Paull Newsome, is responsible for overseeing commercial jobs and contracts. 

He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and has worked extensively within the roofing industry since the 1980s, before which he ran one of the largest facia companies in the UK. 

Paull is a technical genius when it comes to complex roofing problems and has the knowledge and expertise needed to create cost-effective flat roofing solutions that stand the test of time.
